C Fox Boat School Home Page

Instructor Tim Fox shares his passion for building Wood Epoxy Composite Boats with his students in the hope that he can pass on his love for the building of fine wood boats and help others enjoy the satisfaction of paddling, sailing or rowing a craft you built with your very own hands.

At C Fox Boat School you can build Sea Kayaks, Sliding Seat Shells, Glued Lap Strake Rowing, Sailing and Outboard Powered Skiffs, and Drift Boats.

Custom Boat School

We concentrate on teaching modern wood epoxy composite methods. This method involves stitch and glue, glued lap strake and cold molding. Our goal is to encourage the first time builder to finish and launch his or her boat building project while avoiding the many pitfalls associated with a first project. Why not get that unfinished boat out of your garage and into our boat building shop?

Creative Expression

A wooden boat is a living creation which reflects the boat builders vision. As your boat progresses you can step back and admire it with pride, knowing you have created this boat with your own hands. You boat can be a short journey built in a season or it can be road well traveled over time.

Perspective or How to Avoid Over Building Your Boat.

Tim's advice is to strive to keep things under control, always keep in mind that the boat you are building may have to be sold at some point; even if selling your pride and joy is the furthest thing from your mind. It is far to easy to spend "too much" time or money on a specific stage of the project. He encourages his students to keep in perspective the boat's realistic retail value instead of getting bogged down by an obsessive compulsive desire to have everything perfect. This will allow you to impose realistic limits on actual costs and keep you from mismanaging the entire project and ending up with cost overuns. At C Fox Boat School we recommend setting specific time and budget guidelines and encourage our students to hold to them throughout the building process.
