Custom Milled Cedar Kayak Strips

After building strip cedar boats for many years we realized that the one size fits all concept is not always the correct approach. Some models require strips that are a little more narrow to look best, others can use a little more wide strip. For example short and narrow boats look better with a 11/16ths - 3/4" strip. On the other hand, long or wide boats look better with 13/16ths to a full 1" strip. The best boat builders have come to realize this. We custom mill every strip for your order and will size it to fit your needs at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

Western Red Cedar Strips

Always full length, clear & defect free

12'-16' strips .44 per linear ft.
16' - 20' strips .53 per linear ft.

Northern White Cedar Strips

These will be shorter pieces but we will pre cut scarfs
(8-1) on one end of each strip .44 per linear ft.

Sitka Spruce

Sitka to 20' .95 per linear ft.

Mahogany longer than 12' will have pre cut scarfs
(8-1) on one end of each strip .95 per linear ft.

Port Oxford Cedar

Wow!!!! Bright finished this looks like gold leaf from ten feet away. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny for the way your watercraft will look built with Port Oxford Cedar. Strips to 18' at $1.79 per linear ft.

Scarfing tool (pat pending)

Designed to use your 2 1/4 horse power router and a 1 1/8" - 1 1/2" cutter. This tool will make scarfing plywood pure pleasure. In our shop we can scarf a 6mm pair of 4' by 8' panels in less than 10 minutes. The quality of the scarfs created by this unique tool is unequaled.
